140921 VW890 Flat Cable Extension |
SUMMARY - My
tests, your results might be different - An 8 inch extension at
720p and 1080p can be used to relocate the CCM (Compact
Camera Module) away from the PWB. A 15 inch extension can
be used at 720p, but did not work at 1080p.
Extreme care must be taken because the CCM and the cables are fragile. Disconnect the battery before connecting or disconnecting.
VW890 battery, PWB, 8 inch extension cable, CCM.
The CCM is connected to the
PWB by a flat cable and 24 pin 0.5 mm connector. I tested
extending the flat cable using an
8 inch and 15 inch extension available from ebay.
The extension consists of a cable male-male and connector
female-female.Both cables worked for me at 720p, photos and video. At 1080p the 15 inch cable did not work because the video terminated early and the resultant AVI file was corrupt. So, I would guess that cables 8 inches or shorter would work. Your results might be different. |
